You can take the light rail train directly from the airport to the Mall of America where there are some very nice places to eat along with a few large food courts--GREAT for people watching! Link below is to the MOA and a list of restaurants! (Takes a while for the page to load.) Also look on the right side and toggle from the store directory to the restaurant directory and use the pull-down menu for specifics! (Click on the 2nd link---will save you time.) Hope that helps a little!

London is so safe and friendly, go there if anywhere they treat everyone so kind
3 :
I'll try to answer all I can in the order of places I think are best: #1) Japan: Anywhere in Japan is very safe. I walked around everywhere as a 14 year old with my little sister. #2) Philippines: Manila is pretty safe, if you're intimidated by lots of street vendors maybe go with a friend. No one will hurt you though. I live near there. Oh- and to add to your list, there's this place in the Philippines called Boracay. It's a beautiful island, much like a really cheap Hawaii. haha #3) New York: I've walked around New York City (the Manhattans) before, it's sort of safe. I say "sort of" because during day with lots of people, it's pretty safe. I traveled a lot during the day to Times Square and it went fine. I suggest to not walk around at night by yourself, it's very scary. There's lots of intimidating people. #4) I never walked around Hong Kong by myself, but I never thought anything was scary. Even at night, it's very bright and there's lots of taxis everywhere. #5) I haven't been to Mexico before but from what I've heard that goes on there with the bad police and such, I suggest you don't go there alone. At all. #6) California: Los Angeles and San Francisco are gang infested places. There's a lot to do in those areas but I suggest you don't go there alone, despite having a lot of people there. But the important thing is to have some native or someone who knows the country or place well wherever you go. Especially if it's in a foreign language and there's not many English translations. It especially makes it difficult to order food. haha I imagine in ten years time these places would be pretty much the same. Maybe more transportation and in high-tech places like Japan may have even faster bullet trains and cooler gadgets and such. Have fun traveling! Hope I helped!

About A question for parents who travel
A question for parents who travel?
Do you have any tips/tricks for finding cheap, but decent hotels? Also, do you have any other money saving ideas for vacationing with kids/ We have traveled before, but always with other family/friends and they have always made the arrangements for us and we split the costs. If it helps, we are driving to Black hills/Badlands, SD from St. Paul, MN with our 3 kids ages 10, 6, and 15 months. Thanks.

Sometimes you can find good deals on websites like Expedia or Orbitz, but we have very rarely found good deals on those sites. If you want to save money, make sure they don't know you have kids. They will either charge extra or won't rent you a room at all. You can also save by getting a smaller room and then bringing an air mattress or playpens for little ones to sleep in, rather than paying for extra beds.

I have a AAA membership and use their website to find hotels. Have you ever thought about camping instead though? I did that last time I was in the Black Hills and it was a lot of fun! The campground we stayed at had miniature golf and a swimming pool. But my daughters favorite thing was playing in the creek that went right by our campsite. There was a family with children camping next to us and they had a lot of fun playing together. As far as money-saving. Pack as much food as you can. Anytime we travel we pack sandwiches to eat at least on the first day of the trip and bring a cooler full of drinks along and plenty of snacks as well. When we go camping we honestly don't eat out at all as we bring plenty of food with and cook sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers over the campfire.

I usually find the best hotel deals on the hotel itself's website, but also go check things like Visa's website for all their discounts. When we traveled to different states, I also go to the states tourism website and order a vacation guide, and see if there are any coupon booklets availalbe - or at the big rest stop type places along the way. We saved alot on sit-down type meals this way. Also in touristy sites like that, grocery stores may have inflated prices, so you may want to shop first. And also if you spend a little more with a room or rental with some kind of kitchen, you may save more in the end on food. heres my other money saving tip, as I mentioned my Visa, I have a Target Visa - and Im sure you probably have a superTarget close given your travel plans. I put EVERYTHING on this card, and pay it off every month. I typically get a 10% off day everymonth, where I stock up on groceries, and also print off every coupon possible from their website.

Depending on how long you're staying in a hotel there are always some interesting options to consider. If staying in a hotel, call the hotel directly and negotiate a rate with the sales manager. They generally have authorization to give you a lower rate than the folks at either the 800 number, the website or the front desk. It helps to be polite. Always join the hotel chain's reward program. It's usually free, you can rack up points for free stays, can get no charge upgrades and amenities. Since you're traveling with kids consider a suite with a kitchen. Even better, find a rental for a condo. It helps you save a boatload on food since you can just make breakfast, take your own lunch, etc. Stop in a local grocery store and stock up on milk, cereal, snacks, etc. so you don't have yet another eating out bill. Bed and Breakfasts are another interesting way to go that are worth looking into. Look up the local Chamber of Commerce to find non-chain hotels and again, call them directly. On your way in stop at the welcome center closest to the hotel...even if you already have a reservation. Welcome centers often have brochures with discount rates attached to them and are often hoping to get last minute people walking in the door so the rates are often pretty discounted. If you want a cheaper price, ask. Don't accept the first rate they offer. Like everything, it's a negotiation. You can also play one sales person off another if you're willing to spend a little time on it. Look for current deals with hotel chains. For example, Choice hotels right now are running a 2 stays get 1 free. Ask when the hotel was last renovated or built. It gives you a good idea of how new the facility will be. If you're traveling over a weekend, look for a corporate hotel. They always discount their rooms Friday and Saturday night since their corporate guests have gone home. And never...EVER...put a hotel reservation on a debit card. Credit cards are fine. But the hotel will hold money on your debit card and it'll register that the money has been taken out of your account. Get a couple of absentminded front desk clerks, and that money will be pulled out multiple times. Have a great time.

I'd love to help you. Unfortunately, there will not be enough room in the Yahoo! Answers box to give you all the info you require, without directing you to a web page. To give you a brief start: St. Vincent de Paul Born: Pouy, Gascony, France, in 1580 (or maybe 1576) Died:Paris, 27 September, 1660 Grew up in a peasant (farming family) Studied humanities at Dax, France with the Cordeliers, with his theological studies at Toulouse, graduating in theology Ordained as a priest: 1600 at Toulouse, France In 1605, while returning by ship from Marseilles, where he traveled to receive an inheritance, Turkish pirates captured him and took him to Tunis, where he was sold as a slave. He escaped in 1607 with his master, a renegade whom he converted to Christianity. Locations of his work: * Initially in and around Toulouse, France * After escaping his slavery, he went to Avignon, France where he joined the papal vice-legate and followed him to Rome where he continue his studies * Sent back to France from Rom in 1609, on a secret mission to Henry IV King of France * Became almoner to the Queen Marguerite of Valois * The Queen assigned him as priest at the Abbey of Saint-Léonard-de-Chaume * In 1611, went to Paris where he met Monsieur (afterwards Cardinal) de Bérulle, who was then founding the congregation of the French Oratory * Took charge of the parish of Clichy near Paris, at Monsieur de Bérulle's request * In 1612. entered the services of the Gondi, an illustrious French family, to educate the children of Philippe-Emmanuel de Gondi * Became the spiritual director of Mme de Gondi, giving missions on her estates * Later, was curé of Chatillon-les-Dombes in the Bresse region of Franche, where he converted several Protestants and founded the first conference of charity for the assistance of the poor * Returned to the Gondi family in 1617, resuming the peasant missions [There is SO MUCH more, I'll leave you to read about it in on the web site given in the link below.] * In 1705 the process of his canonization was begun * On August 13, 1729, Vincent was declared Blessed by Pope Benedict XIII * He was canonized by Pope Clement XII on June 16, 1737 * 1885, Pope Leo XIII gave him as patron to the sisters of Charity * Feast day: September 27 You can read the rest here: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15434c.htm and here: http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=326 You can learn about the Society of St. Vincent de Paul through the society's web pages: http://www.svdpusa.org/AboutUs/MissionandValues.aspx I do believe students should do their own work and reading for their assignment completion. If you need more information than what I have summarized and what is given in the web pages I have cited, then, I'm sure your local library will have more on him. Just ask a reference librarian there to help you find what you need. Best wishes

About How is interstate travel in the Fargo-Moorhead area affected by the flooding
How is interstate travel in the Fargo-Moorhead area affected by the flooding?
We have a trip planned from Manitoba to St. Paul this weekend (April 3-5). We were planning on taking I-29 down to Fargo, then I-94 across the river to Moorhead and down to the Twin Cities. Is this still the best route, or are these interstates experiencing flood-related closures, traffic backups, etc? Is the I-94 bridge across the Red River even open? Thanks for any information. Also, I would have posted this in the Minneapolis-St. Paul section, but there isn't one!

Currently the Interstates are open to travel---the I-94 bridge between Fargo-Moorhead is one of two bridges that didn't close, bur there will be some extra traffic due to other bridges still being closed.

About Is there a sculpture of St. Paul's on a bridge in central London
Is there a sculpture of St. Paul's on a bridge in central London?
I'm fairly sure I saw a travel show about London a few years ago where two people met on a bridge in central London, and they pointed out that there was a sculpture of St. Paul's cathedral on the side of the bridge, on the outside of the barrier. It was a bridge with pavements and a road on it, like Southwark bridge or London bridge. Does / did this sculpture on this bridge exist? If so, which bridge is / was it? I know what St. Paul's cathedral is as a building, but if I remember the show correctly, there was some kind of sculpture of the cathedral on the bridge, on the exterior of the barrier, level with where the pavement is. As I said, this was a few years ago, so it might not be there any more, or I might have just imagined it. I just wanted to throw the idea into the Yahoo Answers ether and see if it struck a chord with anyone. I think Spellbound's got the right answer with this one. Although I go to London fairly regularly, I don't think I've ever been quite that far inland along the river, and had assumed it would be nearer the cathedral itself, like Blackfriars or Southwark bridges. (The Millennium bridge is obviously the nearest, but there's no way the sculpture would have been on there - too modern, too streamlined, no road access)

You are right, there is a small bronze of St Paul's on Vauxhall Bridge in London. Scroll down to see an image of it in the link below http://www.secret-london.co.uk/Other_Oddities.html

19th November 2005 Chicago O'Hare to St.Paul. Michael, can we talk?
I'm looking for someone called Michael, whom I met at St. Paul Int. We'd been travelling from Chicago O' Hare onboard the same plane. We had a brief encounter, after which I left. I need to speak to him again. If you read this, please do reply! Gorgeous.

Does any one know where I can watch the Delahoya fight May 5th in Minneapolis/St.Paul I'll be there traveling.
I will travel to Minneapolis the weekend of May 5th and I would like to watch the Delahoya vs Mayweather fight at a sports bar or similar venue. Please give me specific addresses since I'm not familiar with the twin cities. Thank you

There is NO SHORTAGE of sports bars in this area, any number of which will host a showing of a major fight. When you arrive, first ask at the desk (they may know) or start calling around using the phone book when you get to your room. It is also possible, if you are staying at a higher end hotel, that you can get the fight aired in your room. I am giving you this answer in case no one with specifics can help you. I'm a baseball fan only.

Maybe I'll see you here, that would be fun. I live in St. Paul on the upper west side. Near Robert Street and Annapolis in you know the area. I am going on the 4th floor of the Mall of America in Bloomington. They have a $5 cover for fights, but here's the hint, show up an hour before the show comes on. They charge cover for the fight, not the bar, show showing up before the fight cover rocks. I was there for Mayweather-Gatti. I got so f'ing drunk I forgot my $400 leather jacket behind and fell asleep on the bus, lol. PS, if you plan on drinking catch the light rail. The final destination is MOA. But in Minneapolis, you gotta watch your azs.
